Hello, Hive friends! Thank you for popping by my blog and coming to visit me. Do make yourselves comfortable – the coffee’s ready. That’s more or less what I say to my husband when I’ve poured the coffee. I never cease to be amazed at how my husband has ended up being my coffee-drinking companion, when he didn’t used to like drinking this delicious beverage before we started our relationship. He once confessed to me that, after meeting me, he would sometimes agree to have a coffee when it was offered to him because it reminded him of me. For a coffee lover like me, that sounds very romantic.
The truth is that drinking coffee is deeply ingrained in Cuban culture. Just like at my house, there are many homes where, at dawn or after lunch, people never fail to enjoy their long-awaited cup of coffee. It certainly brightens up my day. You have no idea how much! Sometimes I wonder if I have coffee running through my veins instead of blood.
How lovely it is to be able to enjoy this beautiful moment with the person you love most, or at least with someone you hold very dear! It’s a marvellous thing. Because that’s when the most interesting and entertaining topics of conversation come up. It’s incredible how a small cup of coffee can be part of the most beautiful or important moments in our lives. That’s just how we Cubans are – we need nothing more than a cup of coffee and we’re ready to throw a party. Or rather, we’re capable of that even without the cup or the coffee, but that’s another story.
