Seven views of St.Petersburg from the Neva-river boat trip

in PhotoFeed2 days ago (edited)

Intresting eye-catcher and example of modern architecture / city urbanistica. Made this capture during my boat trip across the St.Petersburg this summer - obviously, these buildings were constructed exactly in this way, to be seen from the water. I bet - walking around them by foot would not inspire me to make a click at all.

Same spot just a minute later - ofc, the boat did not stop but continue moving forward, so the perspective was changing pretty fastforward, and the result is... dramatically different. Now you can see these fancy triangle facades is ... sort of a fiction, decoration, imitation. Behind it these are quite standard concrete parallelepipeds - the most common product of our modern architecture we are used to so much.

These buildings were made so much for shooting them! This is a thought I could not get rid off myself :D what do you think, dear all?

Another very different cityscape view a few minutes later.

...and another one.

I looked backwards and took another picture of the Neva-river bank, with all those buildings the boat just passed (what you see in the last photos I share). Just five minutes separate the first photo from the last. A river cruise through the city is a delightful opportunity to quickly see the city's diverse architecture and views, and to see it from a completely different perspective!

Over the years, perhaps decades of my adult life, I've been hearing all sort of good stories about St Petersburg. When viewing pictures, mostly I saw the older architecture. These set of stills are great, gives me another perspective/view of this city, and makes me wanting even more to visit. Still onmy bucket list and will continue to stay listed.

Well. Lets say, this was a less parade facade selection. During said boat trip on that day, I had an opportunity to observe the St.Petersburg as a port city. (which was great, entertaining experience!)
St.P-b for 200 years was the heart of Russian empire, the residence of the emperor and his family and all the elites - no surprise it has a decent amount of palaces, museums and simply historical places of intrest, all together at a compact location. So yeah, its definitely worth paying a visit. Just note the place is famous for its bad weather - better to plan ones visit from spring (say, May) till mid of the summer, thats the main tourist season.
cheers! and !BEER

Did you know that <a href='https://dcity.io/cityyou can use BEER at dCity game to buy cards to rule the world.

We often ignore the beauty, but when we stand at far the same place appears pretty.

What beautiful views from the water, the city really does look different when viewed as a port city. It's a city I've always wanted to visit due to the amount of history, but I've never made it that far east as of yet when I've been in Europe. I will make it one of these days!

Great job on the pictures, an interesting blend of people going about their daily lives to architecture. Those first buildings are pretty funky, the architect obliviously had something in mind when they were designed. It does look like they were meant to be seen from the distance on the water!

I hope you have a great weekend!
