Sometimes we see trends emerging, reaching their peak, declining, and disappearing. This has happened before, and it seems it will continue to repeat itself. This time, I want to touch on the subject of entrepreneurship and how we have gone through the peak of what I believe was a wave of common interest, where everyone wants to be a small business owner, believing we are all capable of innovating, managing, and undertaking.
I am not part of that group.
I wasn’t bitten by the entrepreneurship bug!
I believe the capitalist world is set, and we are merely low-level players fighting for the basics of survival. We have no influence; our existence is practically invisible compared to the big players in this macabre game of accumulation, consumption, and waste.
The culture of entrepreneurship has been around for more than a decade, from what I have experienced, formed by constant encouragement for individuals to try. Try what? Who knows! Come up with something and try to make it happen!
Even without any theoretical preparation, make your idea come off the paper. Start a business, be your own boss, even if the only employee is yourself!
Self-made entrepreneurs!
I didn’t start any business, but I saw people doing it, losing what little they had, and returning to salaried work. I also saw people with good ideas selling their ideas for a fraction of what they would later be worth. And finally, I saw people who decided to play the entrepreneurship game by limiting themselves to doing what they knew how to do. These last ones were the most successful.
These last ones did not have the arrogance to think they could apply process management without ever having minimally trained for it. Nor people management, nor anything. Perhaps their good business ideas were precisely the direct part of making things happen in their business. They couldn’t be in management—they needed to be in production!
So when I see today the statement that:
Hospitals are built to generate profit, not necessarily to heal the sick. Schools are built to make profit, not to educate.
I can only imagine something went wrong in the process.
- People sold their ideas, and those who bought them applied the logic of profit. That’s not a problem—once the idea was sold, it’s no longer your concern what’s done with it.
- People with the talent and capital for business management are investing in that area, which means there is potential for return. This applies both to hospitals and schools. And there’s nothing wrong with that!
In both cases, the project management is no longer in the hands of its creator but rather in business hands, which are steering it toward the inevitable expected outcome: profit.
How to return to offering humanized services and products?
It is necessary for the creators to take control of their projects and stop selling their ideas for quick, effortless profits. When the creators are leading their ideas, it’s possible to control the direction of the business so that it remains sustainable while also generating social value—a function that, in principle, should belong only to the state, but which nothing prevents individuals and private entities from also fulfilling.

Tem algumas vezes que vemos as modas surgindo, chegando ao ápice, decaindo e desaparecendo. Isso já aconteceu antes e ao que parece continuará a se repetir. Dessa vez quero tocar no assunto do empreendedorismo, e como passamos pelo ápice do que eu acredito ser uma onda de interesse comum, onde todos querem ser microempresários, acreditando que somos todos capazes de inovar, gerenciar, empreender.
Não faço parte desse grupo.
Não fui picado pelo mosquito do empreendedorismo!
Acredito que o mundo capitalista está posto e somos meros players de baixo level lutando pelo básico da sobrevivência. Não temos influência, nossa existência e praticamente invisível perto dos grande players desse jogo macabro de acumulação, consumo e desperdício.
A cultura do empreendedorismo está posta a mais de uma década pelo que eu pude vivenciar, sendo formada por um incentivo constante para que os indivíduos tentem. Tentar o que? Sei lá! Invente algo e tente fazer acontecer!
Mesmo sem preparo teórico algum, faça sua ideia sair do papel. Abra uma empresa, seja dono do seu negócio, ainda que o único funcionário seja você mesmo!
Empresários de si mesmos!
Eu não abri nenhum negócio, mas vi pessoas fazendo, perdendo o pouco que tinham, e voltando ao trabalho assalariado. Também vi pessoas com boas ideias, vendendo suas ideias por uma fração do que elas viriam a valer depois. E por último também vi pessoas que se propuseram a jogar o jogo do empreendedorismo se limitando a fazer o que sabiam fazer. Estas últimas foram as que se saíram melhor.
Estas últimas não tiveram a prepotência de achar que saberiam aplicar gestão de processos sem nunca ter se capacitado minimamente para isso. Nem gestão de pessoas, nem nada. Talvez suas boas ideias de negócios fossem justamente a parte direta do fazer acontecer do seu negócio. Elas não podiam estar no gerenciamento, e sim precisavam estar na produção!
Então quando hoje vejo a afirmação de que:
Hospitais são construídos para gerar lucro, não necessariamente para curar os doentes. Escolas são construídas para obter lucro, não para educar.
Eu só posso imaginar que algo deu errado no processo.
- As pessoas venderam suas ideias, e quem comprou esta aplicando a lógico de lucro. Isso não é um problema, uma vez que a ideia foi vendida, não é mais da sua conta o que vai ser feita com ela
- As pessoas que tem o talento e capital para administração de negócios estão investindo nessa área, o que significa que tem capacidade de retorno. Isso se aplica tanto ao hospital com à escola. E não tem problema nenhum nisso!
Em ambos os casos o gerenciamento do projeto já não está mais nas mãos do sue idealizador e sim nas mãos empresariais, que estão direcionando para o inevitável resultado esperado: lucro.
Como voltar a oferecer serviços e produtos humanizados?
É necessário que os idealizadores assumam o controle de seus projetos e deixem de vender suas ideais, realizando lucros rápidos e sem esforço. Quando os idealizadores estão comandando suas ideias é possível haver um controle da direção do negócio para que ele seja sustentável ao mesmo tempo que apresente ganho social, função que a princípio apenas o próprio estado deveria ter, mas que nada impede que terceiros e particulares também façam.
