My birthday was rarely an ordinary day. I am the only son in my family after three daughters. There’s no issue with the daughters of course but who doesn’t also want a son? My grandmother (my father’s aunt) always celebrated my birthday in the most amazing ways imaginable. I received plenty of gifts even from my father’s friends which is quite rare. After my grandmother passed away I’ve missed her deeply on my birthdays. Imagine opening the fridge to find it filled with everything you (now mostly I have to pay not only for my food but for others too) love most along with new toys clothes shoes sweets and more. I miss her she was truly a golden sparrow of her time. She was educated when women’s education was barely a thing in Pakistan. I’ve written about her in many of my blogs but her stories never end.
