I've always taught my children that repentance has to be sincere, coming from the heart.
If the apology is false, they'll repeat the same dirty tricks, and I'll stop believing in their apologies.
If the apology isn't sincere, it's better not to offer it.
But that's the world of politics. The letter wasn't meant to make you think she was sorry, but to embarrass her and make her defeat public.
