Imagine waking up tomorrow and hearing on the news: “Breaking: Scientists have just confirmed a brand-new habitable planet, fully furnished with oxygen, water, and free Wi-Fi!” Now, that sounds tempting, right? No traffic, no rent, no “fuel subsidy” or hold up, and definitely no mosquitoes buzzing in your ear at 2 a.m. But here’s the big question: will you pack your bags, grab your jollof rice, and head for the stars, or will you stay here on Earth, still arguing over who makes the better party rice and complaining about NEPA?
I dont even need to talk too much, I know a lot of people will go, many people already give up on earth. I even heard a conspiracy theory that there are some group of people who are not even world president, but they control the affairs of everything that happens on earth. Such people are basically gods and if I can get a hold of one, I’ll do what many people might be scared to do. I’ll beat the living hell out of the person. Because look at the world right now and tell me if youre impressed by what is going on.
Anyway, that’s not what we are here to discuss about, we are here to talk about the newly discovered planet. Even without discovering a new habitatable planet yet, we have seen a lot of scientists looking at the other planets around us if they are habitable and one of the planet that scientists have been working on is MARS.
The truth is, if it turned out that there was indeed another habitable planet out there and we are able to locate it, if i have the opportunity, I’ll relocate from earth because earth has been destroyed too much and it needs healing. With the way things are going, I dont mind meeting other species there so we can learn their way instead of taking the bad mentality and mind of earth to that new planet.
But let’s be honest, knowing human beings, the first thing some people will do when they land is to start marking land like “This is my father’s portion,” or creating country that might lead to anothee GAZA war.
So for me, if there’s a chance, I’ll go, but I’ll only go with people who are ready to start fresh, not the ones who will start forming politicians in space. Imagine us living peacefully with other species, learning from them, exchanging ideas, and maybe even teaching them how to party with Afrobeats. That’s the dream.
At the end of the day, whether you stay here or move to Planet X, the real question is: will you change your mentality? Because if not, then new planet, same problem. And me, I m looking for a planet that would be different feom what we have on earth, a place were we can live in peace without borders, or limit to how much we can grow. A place that describes in one of Michael Jackson song
Heal the world, make it a better place. For you and for me and the entire human race.
Thats the kind of planet I’ll give anythinh to go. So, if you’re packing your bags, make sure you pack common sense too. That might be the real visa you’ll need.
