House rent criteria

in Hive Learners7 days ago

When considering choosing a house for rent in my city, there are many things to put into consideration because the city has many features and functions, and these are located in different areas.

The city is populated by students from the university in the city, and long before now, there have been parts of the town where cultism and robbery are highly practiced. In these areas, houses are very cheap due to the fact that people do not like to live there. So, if one is looking for a cheap house and is ready to withstand the pressure of cultists' activities every now and then — such as rioting and gunshots — then the place is the best option. As funny as it may sound, students love to live in this environment because the houses are very cheap, and sometimes, one could spend six months to a year without having the need to run helter-skelter. Landlords in this area have tried many times to remedy the situation so that they can have their houses rented, but they can only suspend cultism activities temporarily; they cannot stop them completely, and that is because students come and go. For me, I can't find myself renting a house in such area.

Another thing we consider heavily when renting a house in my city is flood-prone areas. My city is highly prone to flooding and waterlogging with just a simple rainfall. So, whenever one is looking for a house to rent, one has to consider the areas that are prone to floods. Also, those areas are somehow cheaper compared to the areas that are on higher land. In these places, even till now, they have wooden bridges constructed, which were used in previous years of flooding and are still going to be used for the flood years to come. For me, since I wear shoes a lot, I cannot dream of living in such an area because it would mean I would have to hold my shoes in my hand every day during the rainy season while going out or coming in.

Another factor is electricity. In the bushy areas where houses are now being built, those places do not have electricity, but surprisingly, they are costly too — even more costly than the parts with electricity. Why? It is because the new houses are said to be built according to the current standard of house designs, both internally and externally. So, the people who agree to rent houses in those places are usually rich people because they will pay high costs and also provide their own electricity, such as by using generators or solar systems.

Above all these, we also have the normal, busy areas, but to get a house to rent in such a place requires that one must have connections, especially by using high-profile agents, which will make one pay heavily too.

These factors are highly considered whenever I want to rent a house. I cannot live in a flood-prone area, and I cannot live in a place where I will not have electricity unless I have my own standard means of power. By "standard" here, I mean a very strong and reliable power supply system. Moreover, I do not consider myself renting a house that will wreck my net worth, so I am definitely going to have all the factors put in place, such as ensuring there is electricity and also having a fair cost for the rent and in a trouble free zone.

Thanks for reading.
