If we make an analogy between the decisions and actions that governments carry out citing National Security reasons (including torture, kidnapping, illegal detentions, violation of human rights, among others) and those that could happen if the same precept were applied to the concept of public interest on health issues, let me confess, that I would be selfish and would never share information of such a crucial nature, much less with pharmaceutical organizations or the State.
Let me remind you what happened during the last pandemic: most countries used experimental protocols on COVID 19 patients, which had no medical basis to be applied, many people were isolated, and their fundamental human rights violated, to finally die in the most complete loneliness.
Civil rights were also restricted, preventing free movement and many other rights, all by virtue of the public "interest". Don't get me wrong, I'm not a conspiranoica...al less not so much as to deny realities, such as the effects the virus had. Its origin is another story.
The interesting thing here is to see the reaction of governments to a situation of that importance, the public interest prevails instead of the individual interest, basic rights are restricted, groundless measures are taken and experimental treatments are applied.
If this was done to hundreds of millions of people in the world, what guarantees that our rights would be respected if we had the cure for cancer, AIDS or Alzheimer's in our body, just to mention some of the most catastrophic diseases of our era.
On the other hand, and now I'm writing in paranoid mode, who says that pharmaceutical companies want to cure diseases? What they want is to sell treatments for life, so that the profits have a "long tail", just tell me a single medicine that cures some disease, to review my opinion on it.
The health industry is looking for that the least, what maintains multi-billion dollar empires is the disease, and governments are part of this gear. They are the regulators, they are the ones who allow drugs to be sold that alleviate an ailment, but that can generate the so-called "adverse effects". On some labels, the side effects reach the point that some can cause even death!
Researchers can sincerely work pursuing pure and altruistic ideals, but those who finance their research have mercantile interests, and only seek profit.
On the other hand, if there were a case in which an individual voluntarily or involuntarily becomes a subject of medical and scientific experimentation under the beatific excuse of the common good, it would represent a very dangerous precedent, since it could lead to laws that force people to give up the genetic information they possess to science, as long as it is for the common good, and from there to become human guinea pigs without civil rights and objects of experimentation, it would only be a matter of votes.
And remember that the world is becoming radical and insensitive, and if not, explain so much silence and indifference to the Palestinian drama. Because the only lesson we have from it, is that some lives are more valuable than others.*
Si hacemos una analogía entre las decisiones y acciones que los Gobiernos llevan a cabo alegando motivos de Seguridad Nacional (entre ellos tortura, secuestro, detenciones ilegales, violación de derechos humanos, entre otros) y las que podrían suceder si se aplicara el mismo precepto al concepto de interés público sobre temas de salud, déjenme confesar, que sería egoísta y jamás compartiría una información de naturaleza tan crucial y mucho menos con organizaciones farmacéuticas o el Estado.
Déjenme recordarles lo que pasó durante la última pandemia: la mayoría de los países utilizaron protocolos experimentales en pacientes de COVID 19, los cuales no tenían base médica para ser aplicados, muchas personas fueron aisladas, y sus derechos humanos fundamentales violados, para finalmente morir en la más completa soledad.

Aquí lo interesante es ver la reacción de los Gobiernos ante una situación de esa importancia , prima el interés público en lugar del interés individual, son restringidos derechos básicos, se toman medidas sin fundamento y se aplican tratamientos experimentales.
Si se actuó de esa forma contra cientos de millones de personas en el mundo, qué nos garantiza que nuestros derechos serían respetados si tuviéramos dentro de nuestro cuerpo la cura contra el cáncer, el Sida o el Alzheimer, solo por mencionar algunas de las enfermedades más catastróficas de nuestra era.
Por otro lado, y ahora sí estoy escribiendo en modo paranoico, quién dice que las compañías farmacéuticas quieren curar enfermedades? Lo que ellas quieren es vender tratamientos de por vida, para que las ganancias tengan un "long tail", solo diganme un sólo medicamento que cure alguna enfermedad, para rever mi opinión al respecto.
La industria de la Salud lo que menos busca es eso, lo que mantiene imperios multimillonarios es la enfermedad, y los Gobiernos forman parte de este engranaje. Son los reguladores, son los que permiten que se vendan medicamentos que alivian una dolencia, pero que pueden generar los llamados "efectos adversos". En algunas etiquetas, los efectos colaterales llegan al punto de que algunos pueden causar hasta la muerte!
Los investigadores pueden sinceramente trabajar persiguiendo ideales puros y altruistas, pero quienes financian sus investigaciones tienen intereses mercantiles, y solo buscan el lucro.
Por otro lado, si existiera un caso en el que un individuo se convierta voluntaria o involuntariamente en sujeto de experimentación médica y científica bajo la beatífica excusa del bien común, representaría un precedente muy peligroso, ya que podría derivar en leyes que obliguen a las personas a ceder a la ciencia la información genética que posean, siempre que sea en pos del bien común, y de allí a volvernos cobayas humanas sin derechos civiles y objetos de experimentación, sería sólo una cuestión de votos.
Y recuerden que el mundo se está volviendo radical e insensible, y si no, expliquen tanto silencio e indiferencia ante el drama palestino. Porque la única lección que tenemos de ello, es que algunas vidas son más valiosas que otras.
