We are living in the digital era but it doesn't mean we're totally cut from the real world and only contact with people in digital way's, many things but i think it's better to say that now we can get things digitally in the fast speed with having many benefits of those digital thing, but with those digital thing real thing's are still better.

Digital currency or cash currency!!!
If we're talking about the whole world then people aren't same everywhere, the awareness of digital cash is only in new generation or us who knows how to use the digital currency. But not all people know about it just like our elders, here the elders mean not our parents but our grandparents. In Pakistan mostly the grandparents don't know about it. They don't know how to use digital currency system.
As they're not belong to complex systems and life so for them is difficult to understand. Similarly the kids under age age 5 is difficult to understand them too. As even they can't understand the different currency note or coin then i think it's not easy to trade thing's for them like they can't purchase snacks for them from any shop. Now, at least with cash they make understand the shopkeeper what they want to buy.
I know that digital currency system is more fast but what about those areas where people don't have internet connection, where people have low internet connection and what if the connection get lost due to some technical reasons and then the transection could be failed and can't proceed and for that time we need the cash system so we don't have to depend on internet.
In some villages and sometimes during the power outage we suffer with the internet connection problem and sometimes our internet has technical issue then at that time we can't use it, as we need to wait for a fast internet connection so we rely on the internet connection to buy or sell anything with the depend of Money too and it's just like a headache.
Every transection has a record!!!
As we know in digital system every transection has it's own record and you've a history but sometimes we need privacy in some transection like we can't expose our all transection to anyone, i know it can helpful in fraud cases but it'll not helpful in the term of privacy because sometimes we've to hide our transection like where we spend it.

I'm not going to say that digital system isn't a best, it's a good but it doesn't mean we completely close the cash system from the world as we have to keep a balance in both way's as both have their own advantages and disadvantage so it's better to use which one we need at the time, so keeping them is good for us.
