You sure did the reasonable thing by not letting the cat out the bag. At least if he's going to find out it shouldn't be from you. I've been in situations like this before too that my truth would be a total disaster if I say it.

I think the world we live in can never sustain itself if we all tell the truth because not everyone can deal with the truth.
