The first phase about observing people's character and learning from the good, I agree with that very well. I'm an advocate of learning. I encourage people around me to learn from every single scenario that they come across, pick the good knowledge and make use of it to become better people in the future.
I don't think it's a crime imitating people's good character, it further more increases the relevance of that jurisdiction...
