I noticed this bird’s nest outside the bedroom window. At first glance you cannot really tell it is there. But since i look out this windoe every day i could tell there was something different about the branches and the shape of the leaves thereupon.
In this photo the nest is in the top left quadrant of the photo and the small burd csn barely be seen sitting on top of the nest. It is a tiny bird not much bigger than a hummingbird which at first that is the type nest it was. But then when i saw the bird sitting there i knew it was not a hummingbird.
I noticed that the bird had flown away so i thought this was a great opportunity to get s closer look at the nest. With all the bad storms eith strong winds, hail and rain, i was s little concerned that if there were eggs they would be destroyed.
As i got closer i could see eggs in the very bottom of the nest. The nest is built very deep with tall walls i guess so any other birds would not be able to get inside. The opening at the top was about half the size of the top of a coffee mug and about as deep. It was a small nest.
I put the phone camera over the opening to get a picture of how many eggs there were in the nest because I couldn’t get at a good angle the just see down into it without moving limbs out of the way. I just did not want to disturb any thing physically around the nest.
As you can see in this photo, there are four eggs in the nest. The eggs are no bigger than the end of my finger. However three are whiteish while the other one has brownish gold specks all over it. The different color markings may indicated that a different bird laid it's egg in this nest as well to let the other mother hatch it for them.
