Do you know about New World Screwworm (NWS)? It's a parasitic fly that lays hundreds of eggs on a wound. The larvae (maggots) hatched from the eggs leading to significant tissue damage. Hence, it is called flesh-eating parasites!

The screwworm was eradicated from the US in 1966! A case was detected in the US. Details here
