Hi there. How are you? I hope you are doing great. Welcome to my short diary for Wednesday, June 24, 2025!
On Tuesday, I consulted 26 patients in my chamber. As usual, it was an average day at work. There was no emergency case for me. However, one MI case came and was handled by another GP doctor. I examined some people who came for the visa medical fitness test.
One above-40 patient returned after one and a half years. He was a patient with diabetes, hypothyroidism, and abnormal lipids. He was on multiple medicines before. However, for over one year, he stopped all medicines on his own. Recently, he was feeling more ill. Hence, he decided to visit a doctor again. I performed some of the tests. One of his blood lipids (Triglycerides) was quite high (over 800 mg/dl- normal limit is < 165 mg/dl). His random blood sugar was over 400 mg/dl (the normal limit was < 160 mg/dl). His TSH hormone was over 15 mIU/L (the normal limit was 0.4-5 mIU/L). So, we resumed all the medicines for him!
At least two patients came with the features of heat cramps/exhaustion. During summer, we are getting such patients almost every day. Even though, according to the labor law, the workers shouldn't work at midday, but in reality, the law is not in effect.
Another middle-aged patient came in for some investigations. He feels discomfort in his upper abdominal area. He wanted to check his liver function tests. All the test results came back normal. Later, it appeared to us that a lack of proper sleep, stress, and untimely meals could be the reason for his illness.
At home, I had a morning sleep and an afternoon nap. My kid had two online classes on Tuesday. The first one was a Quran class at 2 pm. And, the second one was an English class at 10 pm. I had to accompany him in both classes. I couldn't walk on the treadmill. Hence, I couldn't do 10k steps (I made 9,370 steps).

Tech Neck Syndrome
Tech Neck Syndrome is a modern illness frequently leading to neck or upper back pain and/or stiffness. It is also called Text Neck Syndrome. It's caused by prolonged stress or strain on the neck or upper back muscles, often from looking down and forward at a handheld device for long periods.
The human head weighs about 10 to 12 pounds in its natural, upright position. However, when you tilt your head forward and down, the weight on your neck increases significantly—up to 60 pounds at a 60-degree angle! This unnatural posture leads to a variety of symptoms
The major symptoms of tech neck syndrome are neck pain and stiffness, shoulder pain, headache, upper back pain, reduced neck mobility, tingling and numbness in the hands, etc. Maintaining natural posture, taking frequent breaks, limiting use of devices (if feasible), stretching exercises of the neck, etc., may help prevent tech neck!
