To Jehovah be the glory, today is a Sunday to remember because Christ has risen! It is the third day since Jesus was mocked by religious opposes of his day, whipped raw by soldiers, spat on, bullied and nailed to a stake. Then His father watched as his dear Son was left to suffer a painful death.
One might wonder why His Heavenly father did not stop him from going through that since he had the power to have stop it. Well the fact remains that if God had stepped in, no ransom would have been paid and we would have been the most to be pitied because we would have been left without hope. So Jehovah permitted his Son to endure suffering until he drew his last breath on a torture stake almost 2,000 years ago.
So today Sunday corresponds with Nissan 16, 33 C.E. Jesus’ disciples were numb with grief and paralyzed by fear. But the goodnews is, the crusified Jesus has risen, appeared to his disciples a number of times throughout his final 40 days on earth. During that time, his grief-stricken and fearful followers were transformed into a joyful, confident, and courageous army of Kingdom preachers and teachers. What had be prophesied has come to be.
So as we gathered to reflect appreciatively on the ransom price he paid, we have more reasons to glorified God. Today is indeed a Sunday to remember!
