I'm Alive And We Are Having A Power Outage

in We Are Alive Tribe2 months ago

Today as I was laying in bed half awake, there was a boom and the power went out. But not all the way out, at first. The air purifier was still going on low, and the GFCI plugs in the kitchen still had their lights on. I was still able to charge my phone (thankfully, it was at 13%). But the lights wouldn't come on, and I couldn't blend my breakfast.

So I reported it to the power company, and took my shower with the lantern on (because my bathroom has no windows).

Athena wondering where the bubbles went

Eventually all the power went out, which included the aquarium filter, so I'm glad I did a partial water change for them last night at least. But get this ... it isn't the whole building that is out. I texted my neighbor on the other side of the building, and they asked me to go in and give their kitties a water bowl, since normally they drink out of a fountain that uses electric (and they weren't home). When I went in to their place, their power was totally on! So they let me bring my blender over and blend my breakfast. 😄

their kitty wondering WTF IS THAT NOISE

So Hamish and I went on our walk.

And by the time we got home, the power was back, hooray! I love when they are able to fix it so quickly. I think our neighborhood gets priority since we are near two hospitals, a fire station, and a transformer station (where all the local electrical equipment and setup is). The hospitals have generators, I'm sure, but those only last for so long before they need more fuel so they probably try and get hospital neighborhoods back up and running fast. I know some friends and family who are out in the burbs and they never get theirs fixed as fast as I do. So we're lucky in that.

And that was our morning! I hope y'all are having a good one. Be well!

Getting the electricity issues fixed fast is really comforting. You are correct, in many places, in other countries, usually, they can't fix the issue fast. In this regard, you are lucky!

You have good neighbors!

That's so odd that the power would be out in one part building, but not the other. I'm trying to imagine how that would even happen. It's good to hear that it came on again quickly, though, and that your neighbor let you use his/her apartment to blend your breakfast. We're on a solar electrical system out here, which is usually reliable, but I blend my superfood fire coffee in the morning, so it's quite inconvenient when it's not. Happy Monday! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I keep thinking I need to buy a hand crank blender one of these days, I just haven't had the extra money. x3

That's a great idea, and I'd definitely be interested in that, though I'm curious if it could compare to a VitaMix, which is one of the best blenders in the world. I definitely don't want chunky superfood fire coffee...lol! May abundance in all forms fill your life, my friend. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Wow, what a busy morning.
Good thing you were able to solve the breakfast thing thanks to your neighbor and that the electricity came back quickly.
It's true, living near hospitals and major stations has its advantages in these situations.
How lucky you were able to change the water in the aquarium before all the power went out.
I hope everything is in order now and that you have a better rest of the day 😊

Sorry about the power outage.
I hope they fix it soon.
Glad you were able to get a few things done.

We're having a storm here which is taking power out further north. Otherwise, it just seems unseasonably warm for the time of year! Glad you were able to get sorted quickly.

Sorry you was having power problems that must have been a real drag, glad you was able to get power elsewhere for breakfast enjoy your walk, lovely dog 😎
