I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 6 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙
Warm greetings all! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
There was a time on Hive, after the hard fork from Steem, when there was no layer 2 at all, with no other tokens than HIVE/HP and HBD, and no tokenized communities or games. Hive Engine was revolutionary for Hive when it was rolled out because it gave project and community leaders the ability to create their own tokens, which then opened up a whole new domain for development, with the birth of community and game-specific tokens, income tokens, SWAP tokens pegged to off-chain crypto assets, and diesel/liquidity pools. I arrived on the Blockchain when Hive Engine already existed, so I've never known Hive without it, and honestly I can barely even imagine the idea. Hive Engine was a huge developmental step forward, making Hive into an Ecosystem.
All of you reading this are most likely very familiar with Hive Engine, but did you know that Hive actually has 3 different layer-2 networks? Besides Hive Engine, which many now consider something of a legacy system, there is also DLUX/Honeycomb/SPK, which is still chugging along with ongoing development, and VSC (Virtual Smart Chain), which is being rolled out now, and which promises to completely revolutionize how off-chain assets are transferred and managed.
The DLUX/Honeycomb/SPK network has existed for a while now, with low-key development moving it ever closer to making decentralized file storage, using IPFS (Inter-Planetary File System), a reality on Hive. Media storage (of imagines, videos, and the like) has up until now, aside from 3Speak, not been decentralized, with media files being hosted on individual servers. That's one of the very significant issues that the DLUX/Honeycomb/SPK project seeks to address, to help move Hive in the direction of being ever-more decentralized.
VSC is the new kid on the block, with the promise and potential of totally redefining how the transfer and management of off-chain crypto assets is handled on Hive. VSC will be as significant a development for Hive as Hive Engine was, likely even more so. When it is fully rolled out, we will have an easy, efficient, effective, and completely decentralized way to transfer, hold, and manage off-chain assets, and in native form, removing the need for any centralized intermediaries, bridges, or arbitrage accounts from the equation. That's huge, to say the least.
Because the primary focus of each of these layer-2 networks is different, they will complement each other quite nicely, which will add immeasurable richness, value, and utility to the Hive Blockchain Ecosystem. Hive is already pretty incredible, and with these two other layer-2 networks coming online, I'm seriously brimming with excitement. The version of Hive that we know now is but a shadow of what is to come.
Yesterday, Friday, I left the Flow House, after wrapping up my Hive tasks, just after 2:30PM, diving into some photography for my posts, and some sunbathing on the trampoline, first. Once I was well sunned, I buzzed my head and face, as I was beginning to look the part of a wild, shaggy jungle man. After that, and a shower, I got to the task of laying ethernet cable in conduit between the Bali Hut and Halai Hapai, and establishing an internet connection in Halai Hapai, which thankfully went successfully. Toward early evening, I walked over to my friend Lea's place, to pick up some supplies that she had gotten for me in town, and to spend some time with her for a bit. I ended up leaving her place around 7:15PM, later than expected, and I arrived back at GaiaYoga just after 7:30PM, heading first to the Landing, to drop off a few things, and to collect my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee from the fridge, after which I returned to the Flow House to finally get to my evening Hive tasks, and to catch up on my notifications. Although I started quite late on Hive, a little after 8PM, I was able to finish everything up by just before 10PM, and after some asset management and pool analysis, and a long scan of my X feed, I went to bed just after 12AM. I woke up around 7AM, having slept well, doing more asset management, getting out of bed about 7:30AM to go make my superfood fire coffee in the Landing, and then returning to the Flow House to write this post. It's now just after 1:15PM, so a marvelous time to end this post, so that I may get to my few other important Hive tasks, before leaving the Flow House a little later in the afternoon, to focus first on photography for my posts, and then community/land work. I deeply appreciate y'all so very much! Until the next incarnation of these posts tomorrow! Always forward, onward, upward, and whaleward, ho, together we go! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
2025 Life Goals
1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.
2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.
3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.
4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.
All photos were taken with my Motorola G Play 2024 Android Phone.
Thank you all so much who have helped me get to where I am today, and allowing me to share more of the beauty and magic from my life and my world with you, and for your continuous appreciation and support! I am truly deeply grateful! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
