I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 7 years now. One of the many diverse domains that is bridged and connected in the juxtaposition nexus point that is me is open-source, community-driven sovereign technology. I choose sovereignty in all contexts, including in my tech stack, which makes me a very picky, and discerning tech geek indeed. The vast majority of the technologies that most people use, usually without thinking, are of no interest to me now, and for a whole host of reasons. With greater awareness and understanding, comes increasing discernment.
The most exciting and fascinating area of FOSS (Free and Open-Source) technological development is AI and agentic-AI frameworks and systems, which has a rate of progress and evolution that blows pretty much every other tech field away. It's honestly mindblowing to see not only the staggering velocity of development, but also the equally incredible potential that is being practically realized day after day, week after week.
As a quick example of what I mean, what is possible now with AI and agentic-AI systems on consumer-grade hardware was not possible (in practical terms at least) even a year ago. The level of capability of open-source, open-weight, locally-run AI models today is where the best frontier cloud-based models were a year ago, and all for free. The models are becoming exponentially better, and with newer optimization and quantization techniques, they are becoming easier and easier to run on regular consumer hardware like laptops and even mobile phones. That's seriously amazing.
Community-driven FOSS development in general is also being massively accelerated due to the use of agentic-AI coding frameworks, in part because of the notably increased effectiveness and efficiency in the developmental process, as well as because these new agentic-AI tools are opening practical coding to a far greater number of people than ever before, even to people that aren't proficient in coding. Having said that, and acknowledging that this is indeed extraordinary and potentially very useful, AI-based coding should still always be reviewed by compentent developers, and it should also only be used as a tool to assist coding and programming, not as a replacement for actual coding/programming skills.
The deeper that I dive, and the more that I learn about assorted open-source, community-driven frameworks, and the more that I'm able to understand their potentials, the deeper that I want to go, and the more that I want to learn. Knowledge and understanding are indeed power, because they allow me, or anyone for that matter, to do so much more, and in an increasingly effective, efficient, and elegant manner.
Yesterday, Thursday, I left the Flow House, after finishing up my Hive-Blurt-'We Are Alive Tribe' tasks, by just before 3PM again, giving my attention first to some photography for my posts, and then to a few jungle-community/land work tasks, including collecting food supplies from Tutu's for Wabisabi, clearing multiple areas with my machete, and harvesting a ripe rack of bananas. With those completed, I took a shower, made myself some food in Wabisabi, collected my leftover superfood fire coffee from the fridge, and with those in hands, I headed back to the Flow House to begin my evening Hive tasks. I got through all of my notifications by around 9:30AM, and after some more agentic-AI research, I went to bed by a bit after 11:15PM. I woke up about 7:30AM, having slept well, going to prepare my superfood fire coffee in Wabisabi, returning to the Flow House to do more agentic-AI research, and to write this post. It's now just before 1:45PM, so it's a fantabulous time to wrap this up, so that I may attend to my few other important Hive-Blurt-'We Are Alive Tribe' tasks, before leaving the Flow House a little later in the afternoon, to focus first on some photography for my posts, and then on some jungle-community/land work and tasks. 2026 Life Goals
1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.
2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.
3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.
4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.
