I recently had the opportunity to visit the Parque de la Fraternidad, located in the heart of the city of Havana. This park complex, delimited by Monte, Dragones, Prado and Amistad streets, has become a point of reference for all Havana residents and Cubans who walk through the city. With this walk I join the #wednesdaywalk challenge that friend @tattoodjay invites us to share.
It is a place that is located a few steps from downtown, I really like that the heart of this ancient and great city is adorned by this large green park where a varied vegetation abounds, palm trees, ceibas, poplars, delight the eye.

Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de visitar el Parque de la Fraternidad, ubicado en el corazón de la ciudad de La Habana. Este complejo de parques, delimitado por las calles Monte, Dragones, Prado y Amistad, se ha convertido en un punto de referencia para todos los habaneros y cubanos que caminan por la ciudad. Con esta caminata me sumo al reto #wednesdaywalk que el amigo @tattoodjay nos invita a compartir.
Es un lugar que se encuentra a unos pasos del centro de la ciudad, me gusta mucho que el corazón de esta antigua y gran ciudad este adornado por este gran parque verde donde abunda una variada vegetación, palmeras, ceibas, álamos, deleitan la vista.
In the center of the park stands an imposing ceiba tree, known as the "Tree of American Fraternity." It was planted on February 24, 1928 and fertilized with soil from 28 Latin American republics.
This ceiba tree has a fence that surrounds it with a metal door in front where the name of each republic that donated land for it is recorded. Time has meant that these names have begun to fade, but they symbolize the contribution of each country.
En el centro del parque se alza una imponente ceiba, conocida como el "Árbol de la Fraternidad Americana". Fue plantado el 24 de febrero de 1928 y abonado con tierra de 28 repúblicas hispanoamericanas.
Esta ceiba tiene una vaya que la rodea con una puerta metálica al frente donde se plazma el nombre de cada república que donó tierra para ella, el tiempo ha hecho que estos nombres han comenzado a desvanecerse, pero simbolizan la contribución de cada país.
In the 1990s the park was illuminated, new benches were installed and the landscaping was improved. This made it possible to move away the bus stops that once damaged the lawn, and today the park has a large number of trees and palms that beautify the center of the city.

Throughout the park, you can find several busts that honor outstanding heroes representative of the thought of the American fraternity, among them Simon Bolibar. Benito Juares, Abrhan Lincoln, among others.

As I walked around the place, I was amazed by the majestic buildings that surround it, especially the imposing entrance to Chinatown. Its characteristic roofs welcome us to a neighborhood that has fused Cuban and Chinese culture, leaving an indelible mark on our people.

In addition, within walking distance, you can also see the impressive building that houses the telecommunications offices of ETECSA, former Cuban Telephone Company that was inaugurated in 1927, this building of gothic style stands out for its ornamentation and was for years the tallest in the area and one of the most successful and lucrative offices of the time.

Just across the street is the majestic Capitol, whose splendor and brilliance are reflected through the lush foliage of this park. Located a few meters away, the Capitolio houses Havana's Kilometer Zero, a place full of history.
Justo en frente, se encuentra el majestuoso Capitolio, cuyo esplendor y brillo se reflejan a través del frondoso follaje de este parque. Ubicado a pocos metros, el Capitolio alberga el Kilómetro cero de La Habana, un lugar lleno de historia.
