Greetings to all Hivers!
I played in the weekly chess tournament, Hivechess Season 1 last night. We played for over an hour for the whole tournament with a time control of three minute blitz with an option to go on "berserk". Going berserk will give you half the time (1 minute and a half instead of 3) but will give you an extra point if you win. I wasn't happy with my games in this tournament. I felt I wasn't 100%. I immediately lost my first two games and lost one more on default! I was doing something else while playing and forgot about my game.
I played a lot of games against @southgamer in this tournament and haven't won a single one. Here's my first loss to him where I blundered a piece. It's just one of my bad games of the day.
The correct continuation would have been 15. ...Bg4 16. Re1 Qe7 with an equal position. Instead, I allowed his Knight to enter into the game with 15. ...dxc4 16. Nxc4 Qe7 17. Nd6! Rb8 leaving my Bishop on f5.

Here's another game against @justfavour where I was playing with the White pieces. I felt I was winning but somehow lost my grip on the game. I got his Queen and already had a winning position but ended up losing the game. This was my worst game of the tournament.
I still had my bright moments though as in this game where I was White. It ended in a funny position where I trapped the Black Queen.
The game continued 13. Nd5 Qf7?? 14. Ng5 and the Queen has nowhere to go.
Despite my poor performance I somehow still made it to the top ten by going berserk and winning against lower rated opponents. It was a fun tournament though I didn't play as well as I wanted. Thanks to @sam.chess for hosting and see you again next week!

Playing chess is fun but let's not forget about physical activities. I recently committed to exercise and to keep me motivated, I joined actifit.io
