Real talk prompt 6 : Do we live to work or work to live?

in The Real Talk3 days ago

Work is just part of life, not just a means of survival but a way to get our brains to keep functioning.

When one is idle and do less, dark thoughts begins to cloud the mind and other risk factors of bad habits emerge.

I am trying to remove the most pressing need of not working.
Or maybe the above might be a cause for alarm back in the day not now with the challenging economy situation.

You fear the thought of losing your job as an adult with lots of responsibilities.

Because of this we loss ourselves trying to balance work and life.
Everyday with it's overwhelming task and less earns.

It is known that once your economic status increases, work demands increases as well, because there is an expansion in your life.

It can only be less depending when you have your own businesses that you manage, than when you work for someone because the person won't understand you, neither will you understand the person.

The work we do also defines who we are and how productive and important you are to the society.

No matter how rich you are, maybe inherited resources.
If you don't have a tangible job doing, the society will see you less.
You will lose your identity and respect, society will see you as one without purpose.

While on the other hand, when one totally focus on work and making money without having a life, it affects the mental health.

A friend of mine who is the bread winner of her family did multiple jobs to keep up with living expenses.
She doesn't have any life except work, her routine is always from home to work, and from work to work.

This drained her mental health, the saying "All work without play makes Jack a dull boy" was her case.

But she got used to that life.
What made her to reset her life a bit was the continuous health challenges she faced.

She dropped her multiple jobs to one, she came back home and couldn't find peace there.
She tried to socialize which was a disaster.
She almost gave up and wanted to return to her multiple jobs because at least the purpose drives a rush in her.

Before she found peace through her alone time resting, going for walks, swimming and other social activities that didn't require deep conversations.

I will end my write with this.
Work is a survival means, there is no two ways about it.
We shouldn't lose our life for work because there is definitely more to life.
