Hoy vengo a hablarles de una serie que me vi en enero; se trata de Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Greetings, fellow Otakus of #TheAnimeRealm. It's been a long time since I last shared with you all. I believe this is my first post of 2026 in your community. So I hope it's the first of several topics and series I plan to share with you. Today I'm here to talk about a series I watched in January: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Por varias semanas le estaba dando vueltas al asunto sobre si hacer una reseña de esta serie en sí o dejarla pasar. La vi por verla; nadie me la recomendó. En realidad, me llamó la atención por los dibujos y por su supuesta trama; al menos, la sinopsis sonó interesante.

For several weeks, I'd been debating whether to review this series or just pass on it. I watched it on a whim; no one recommended it to me. Actually, I was drawn to it because of the animation and its supposed plot; at least, the synopsis sounded interesting.

And it took me a while to share content with you because, since November of last year, I hadn't watched any anime series. It was almost at the end of January when I picked up some stories again that I found interesting enough to watch.
La primera que vi fue esta serie, mejor conocida como Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Una historia sobre un chico que vive una muy mala experiencia en su adolescencia y lo lleva a convertirse en Cyberpunk, persona obsesionada con modificaciones corporales de manera tecnológica.
The first one I saw was this series, better known as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. A story about a boy who has a terrible experience in his adolescence that leads him to become a Cyberpunk, a person obsessed with technologically enhanced body modifications.
De esta serie tengo varios puntos positivos a resaltar y unos cuantos negativos que también debo mencionar. Entre los positivos están los efectos visuales y los diseños de los personajes, así como también la ambientación y el estilo súper futurista que se muestra desde un inicio. Todo esto me gustó muchísimo.
I have several positive points to highlight about this series, and a few negative ones that I should also mention. Among the positives are the visual effects and character designs, as well as the setting and the super futuristic style that's present from the beginning. I really enjoyed all of this.
El estilo del diseño de los personajes me recordó mucho al diseño de los cómics americanos como Teen Titans o Batman, pero lo que más sobresalía en esta historia eran los efectos de luz y los toques de colores neón muy bien plasmados y utilizados.
The character design style reminded me a lot of American comic book designs like Teen Titans or Batman, but what stood out most in this story were the lighting effects and the touches of neon colors, very well rendered and used.
Lo que no me agradó de la serie fue la trama y la historia que muestran de un capítulo a otro añadiendo unos cuantos años de diferencia. Tampoco me gustó el romance que quisieron vender en la serie, queriéndolo hacer especial cuando, llegado a un punto, la historia se volvía predecible.
What I didn't like about the series was the plot and the way the story unfolded from one episode to the next, with several years' gaps between events. I also disliked the romance they tried to push, attempting to make it special when, at a certain point, the story became predictable.
Al principio, la historia fluyó muy bien. El final que le dieron fue lo que no me agradó para nada y tampoco me gustó el gore que le añadieron a lo largo de toda la serie. Me resultó excesivo e innecesario.
At first, the story flowed very well. The ending they gave it is what I didn't like at all, and I also disliked the gore they added throughout the series. I found it excessive and unnecessary.
Sin embargo, tengo entendido que esta serie está basada en un videojuego con el mismo nombre. Y aunque yo no lo he jugado, muchos de los usuarios que lo hacen están conformes con la serie y su historia desarrollada.
However, I understand that this series is based on a video game of the same name. And although I haven't played it, many users who have are satisfied with the series and its storyline.
Pero en mi caso, como otaku exigente, cuando veo una serie, sea de un videojuego o de alguna historia de algún superhéroe, soy bastante crítica porque la trama debería tener cierta coherencia y además despertar interés en quien la mira.
But in my case, as a demanding otaku, when I watch a series, whether it's based on a video game or a superhero story, I'm quite critical because the plot should have some coherence and also spark interest in the viewer.
Es decir, cuando la estuve viendo la serie estuvo interesante hasta cierto capítulo, ya a mitad de camino y aunque no tiene muchos episodios, unos 10 en total, en cierto punto perdí las ganas de verla, se me hizo aburrido y el cierre que le dieron pues hizo que no me gustara tanto, es por eso que de mi parte le otorgo 3 estrellas de 5, no la volvería a ver pero si le daría una oportunidad a su segunda temporada que saldrá para el 2027.
In other words, when I was watching the series, it was interesting up to a certain point. About halfway through, and even though it doesn't have many episodes—around 10 in total—at a certain point, I lost interest. It became boring, and the ending they gave it made me dislike it even more. That's why I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars. I wouldn't watch it again, but I would give the second season, which will be released in 2027, a chance.
