Sangre...

Hasta aquí mis cinco minutos.

The House Next Door - Short Story

Many neighbors claimed that what was happening in that crowded house was a celebration of losers. It seemed they resented the fact that those who had always failed had, this time, tasted glory.

Amidst all the joy, music, and full-volume voices, right next door was Mrs. Cecilia's house.

She was the mother of two young boys and a girl, none of them reaching ten years of age.

The children seemed to be celebrating too. The mother imagined this because the commotion of their play, paired with their laughter, was monumental. That made her smile, interpreting it as a sign that they were happy.

Despite the loud noise of the losers' celebration next door, she noticed that the children's noise no longer inhabited the atmosphere.

She continued tending to the garden in front of her house, but with her ears on high alert, as if searching for that child's noise that had suddenly gone mute.

In that instant...

A scream...

The girl...

When she tried to stand up and let go of the tool she was using to turn the flower soil, she couldn't.

Her knees wouldn't respond.

And her hands were grabbed by something jagged that emerged from the garden soil and devoured her fingers.

Blood...

That is the end of my five minutes.

Saludos. Es bueno volver a leer sus relatos.

Salud y buena suerte.

Hola, amigo @felixmarranz.

Otro abrazo.

¡Hola, buen amigo @edgerik! Me estoy reincorporando a mis actividades y no podía dejar a Hive fuera.

you're welcome 🤗

Awesome! I was waiting for the ending and then BAM! It ended abruptly. What happened? How? Where? What suspense!

Ha, ha, ha! @yusmelys, I was really amused by this comment of yours.
I like to write suspense stories, but I didn't have time to do it because I was somehow affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela. Now that I have returned to writing and with a disturbed mind, I have done it with a micro-story in which I have left the ending to the reader. It's a style that some writers use and that I'm trying to see how it goes.
Thank you very much for your visit and for that comment that has refreshed my mind.
