This time, dusk came silently. It crept slowly from the western sky, erasing the daylight and replacing it with a golden orange that reflected off the surface of the rice paddy water. Before my eyes, trees with slender branches stood firmly in silhouette, as if silently witnessing the sacred passage of time. The sky seemed uncertain, dark on one side due to gathering clouds, and bright on the other side due to the sun forcing its rays to touch the earth.
I stood on the embankment, letting my feet get dirty with the mud that hadn't had time to dry. The scent of wet soil mixed with the gentle evening breeze made my chest feel open. There was no sound of engines, no hum of vehicles, only the sound of insects starting to become active, and the occasional bird returning to its nest. Moments like these were rare. In a fast-paced world, I felt the world pause for a moment, inviting me to reflect.
Today wasn't particularly busy. I spent the morning delivering bread to our regular shops, then in the afternoon I went to the rice paddies, ensuring the seeds we collected yesterday were ready for planting tomorrow. My body feels tired, but my heart is filled with gratitude. Amidst the tiring routine, there's a peace that can only be found in a place like this, in a quiet rice field, under a sky that's slowly fading.
I believe every sunset carries a message. It reminds me that everything will eventually come to an end, that no day lasts forever. But it also promises hope, because after darkness comes a new morning. Silently, I promise myself to continue maintaining my connection with nature, with time, and with myself.
This photo is just one of many simple yet meaningful pieces of life. I want to keep it, not just in my phone gallery, but in my memories, in my writing. Because someday, I want to remember that there was a time when life was so honest, as simple as watching the sunset over a quiet rice field.
