This microfiction story is for the prompt "haven't got a plan". It reminds me of the early days as a young couple, my husband and I didn't have a plan. We ran into numerous obstacles when we needed funds for an emergency.
We finally remedied the situation and was able to handle our own affairs without the need to involve others. I share a ZAPFIC50 story told in exactly 50 words. The challenge was created by @felt.buzz.

Below is my story.
It all started the day the water heater broke.
"You knew it wouldn't last forever. Repair or purchase immediately," Arlene, demanded.
Worried, Jimmy retreated to his office.
Expired warranty. He'd delayed for years starting an emergency fund.
Haven't got a plan, do you? Arlene questioned.
Immediately, she called her parents.
