Good day friends! I feel happy having the opportunity to share my writing on today's prompt with everyone.

Theme: went to war

Life is said to be a war, and that it's only those who are strong can survive. This is the statement John stood on and found a reason to be focused on making his parents proud. John came from a poor family. His both parents are farmers who only cultivate food crops and practice “harvest to eat or sell to eat”. This means that John's family livelihood is dependent on what they harvest from farms or things they buy after selling their farm products, no other source of income.

John, being the first child and only boy of the family with a younger sister, Grace, was left with no choice but to grow to help the family. At five, John was already dreaming of doing things a man can do because he realized the family depended on him to make things right. He was so determined to become a farmer, a commercial farmer with larger farms. But his parents had better plans for him. They wanted him to become educated unlike them.

After so many motivational talks with parents, John finally agreed to leave farming and get educated. He employed the same determination he had for farming and completed primary and secondary education successfully and was always the best in his classes despite his background. He never allowed insults and mockery from his mates to pull him down, he rather acted insensitive to all they said about him.

John was lucky to have determined parents too, it seemed he inherited such a spirit of determination from them. His parents were determined to train their son in school despite lack of funds. They had to push themselves to the limit, starve and rent out farmlands just to pay their son's fees. It was more difficult when John got admitted into a higher institution where he studied nursing. Fees upon fees, and this almost made them give up but they already knew the end would be sweeter so they persevered.

Seven years later, John graduated as a nurse and went to war as a medic.
John didn't joke with his job as he made sure he delivered his job well.
After some time, issues came up in the hospital as one of John's colleagues, a senior colleague, reported that he wasn't doing his job well. John was given a notice but he wasn't comfortable with the allegations and went to war with his boss trying to prove some allegations wrong.
Since John was innocent of his allegations and was bold enough to speak to his boss in a respectful manner, he proved himself right and was promoted as compensation.
John made his parents proud and turned his family title from “poor” to “not poor anymore.” His dreams and parents' dreams came through.
