RE: We need to exercise / Necesitamos hacer ejercicio

This is such a relatable post for anyone stuck in the "office trap." It is crazy how we spend all day being fast on a keyboard but then our bodies act like they are 80 years old the moment we hit a flight of stairs. I think you and Julia are hitting a wall that a lot of us ignore until it is almost too late.

Modern office life is basically a desk jail. We sit in these "ergonomic" chairs that are supposed to save our backs, but they really just turn us into statues for 8 hours a day. It is a slow decay that we dont even notice until that one day on the subway when our lungs start burning. We are so focused on digital productivity that we forget our physical hardware needs maintenance too.

I have seen people try the standing desk thing, but honestly, just standing there staring at the same screen isnt a magic fix. If the heart isnt pumping, the body is still essentially in sleep mode. And you are right about the food part too. Eating less is a good start but it isnt a substitute for actual movement. You can starve yourself all day, but if your lung capacity is short, those stairs are still going to feel like climbing a mountain.

It is great that you and Julia have each other to stay accountable. That first step of just admitting "no way, we need to move" is the hardest part of the whole process. Dont go too hard at the start, just keep at it so next time those stairs dont feel like a superhuman effort.
