This is my post for # freewrters 2525 prompt a short story hosted by @mariannewest
Well it started yesterday with a 20% chance for development and today it is up to 50%, so it looks like we have another storm brewing. Some models are showing it heading to Mexico, others say it could go into the gulf and hit the west coast of Florida. If we could get a cold front while it was still in the Atlantic, it would kick it to the northeast and make it a short story, we do not need any more storms. I just looked at Mike's Weather Page and it is now a 60% chance for development and there is another area that they are saying has a 20%, I am sure that will also change.
The mud puddles are drying up and this one has a lot of tadpoles in it. My husband put a bucket of water on the back of his bike, he dipped up what tadpoles he could catch, and took them to the big lake by our house. I remember one year we had so much rain that we had small fish in the puddles, we guessed they came from the neighbor's pond that overflowed. We took them to the big lake, too.
The cover (top one) photo is a baby frog sitting on a leaf of one of my desert roses, he is so little he is not even bending the leaf.
Every summer I put my desert roses where they can get water from the sprinkler system and in the winter they do not need much water so I move them to where they get no water, since I had to move them for the storm, I went ahead and put them where they will be for winter, it is early but I did not want to move them all again. I will give them water from the hose.
Sometimes I wonder about my plant addiction but I guess it is better than a drug addiction. With this many, what do you think I do when they get a seed pod? I put the pod in little bags so I can collect the seeds to grow more of them. This would be fine "IF" I would sell them, BUT I get to attached to them. I did give two away this year, one guy was buying areca palms from us and begged me to sell him one, but I can not sell a plant that I care about so I gave him one, and my daughter's husband wanted one so I gave him one also. I can not explain how hard it is for me to part with one. Isn't that crazy?
See the white pot with two things sticking up from it, it was one that the pot did not drain and it rotted. I could not bear to throw it out so I cut away all of the rot and stuck the good parts in a new pot, so far it has not rotted anymore, but it has not had any growth on it either so I am not sure if it will make it, I am not giving up on it, wouldn't it be great if it turned out to be one of the prettiest ones I have, time will tell.
