This is my post for #freewriters 2806 prompt a new empire hosted by @mariannewest.

I once lived in two different towns where factory work was just about the only job you could find. The small town of Ava Missouri, had two factories, Spawldings Sporting Goods and Emerson Electric. A nearby town Seymour Missouri, had Lee Jeans.

When I married I moved to Springfield, I am not sure how many factories were there but I know one was Zennith, I lived near it.
I wonder if these factories have closed like many others across the States.

I understand why companies closed down the factories to move them overseas, labor is cheaper, it came down to money. So I am thinking, what if he wants to biuld a new empire and bring back the factories opening up the job market where thousands can find employment. The companies pay miminum wage to the employees and the consumer will pay four times what they were paying for the same product when it was built in another country.

Someone once sang a song that said "the only thing that stays the same is change."

Wish as we may, we can not go back to the way things used to be, that day is gone.

When my parents were young, the world was not the same as the world was when their parents were young, and it is not the same world today that it was when I was young. It is also not the same as it was when my children were young. It makes me wonder what changes will there be by the time my youngest grandchild is an adult, and I am sure, things will not be the same for his child as it was for him.

I like the idea of having more goods made right here in America, especially prescription medications. But it has been pointed out to me that it will take time to achieve that. Building a factory means finding and purchasing the land, getting all the permits and a blessing from the EPA, building it, passing all the inspections, and then finding employees who are actually willing to work. It could take years. Meanwhile, I guess we just learn to go without things that cost too much. You and I are already experienced with that!

I would like to see things being made here again, too. But I do not think it will happen and if it does, will the consumers be able to afford the items made?

Very good quality post and nice post
