Back when we could keep big trout
This is my post for #freewriters 2822 prompt no publicity please hosted by mariannewest
This trout is now too big to keep
They are at it again, and this time, I will not be surprised if they get what they want. When a State Agency, like the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, FFWCC for short, holds a meeting of fishing laws, who do you think pays for these meetings?
I am sure the FFWCC does not want it to be public knowledge which organization is paying for this meeting. I would think they want no publicity please because it should be a conflict of interest.
The FFWCC is holding a meeting this month to discuss what they are going to do about trout laws. The Sportfishing groups want them to be catch and release only, and will try to get FFWCC to do this, which means complete closure to commercial fishermen.
They are holding the meeting at the Hilton Hotel on the beach in Daytona. This is being paid for by five large sportfishing groups. It is my opinion that I wonder if this group is also paying for the FFWCC members food and rooms, and maybe their bar tabs? That info would surely be a no publicity please type of information.
I do not know why I still care what they do, I guess it is the principle of the matter. I am sure my fishing days are over, my body just can't do it anymore.
We do not have many what I will call money fish in our river, if they take trout it will leave us with only pompano. They have taken Snook, Grouper, Snapper, Redfish, and now they want trout. I hate seeing them take more from hard working people trying to make an honest dollar and feeding people by doing it. If they take trout, the fishermen will be left (for now) with pompano, mullet, spots, and pogies, for river fish to catch, and all but mullet are seasonal. I am sure when they get trout, they will next go for pompano.
