This is my post for #freewriters 2826 prompt cure for cancer hosted by @mariannewest

Once again, the rain went west of us. I saw this storm building and wondered if I should shut the sprinklers off, but I was not going to let it fool me, it has been doing this for a week. We did get a little rain, but not like other places.

My husband was fishing in Grant and said he came in because of it. He said it built over him, then it went west. He had 14 trout that weighed 34 pounds.

I was on the phone with my daughter, she was on her way home, an hour's drive, and likes to talk while driving. She asked what I was doing, and I told her getting ready to write my freewrite. She asked the prompt, and when I told her, she said my granddaughter told her years ago that sharks do not get cancer.

I have heard sharks do not get cancer, and wondered why they have not figured out why and found a cure for cancer from their studies. I have believed this until today.

It is a myth that was started in the 1990s. They do have a better resistance to some types than we do, but with some types of cancer, sharks get more than humans. They can even get skin cancer, liver cancer, and lymphoma. I wonder how they can get skin cancer if what we have been told is true. They say it comes from the sun. Wear sunscreen, stay out of the sun are warnings we have all heard. I have never seen a shark lying out on the beach or staying on top long enough for a sunburn.

One day, I hope they find a cure. It could be in something that is right in front of their face, and they have not tried it. It could be as simple as a pineapple diet or the blue blood of a horseshoe crab, or maybe we can starve it out. If they keep working on it, just maybe, one day, the cure will be found.

Cancer is a terrible disease, it will make a strong man weak and turn him into skin and bones in a short amount of time. The photo was of my nephew, he was in his 30s.

One of my oldest friends is now in the hospital, he will not be coming home, he will be going home.
photos are mine

Cancer is a terrible disease

No doubt about it! Hopefully, we will get a cure for cancer in the near future!

My condolences ... and I will share with you that a diet high in root vegetables has been known to keep cancers down ... beets, onions, garlic ... cultures who eat many more of these have less cancers...

Thank you, I have heard of areas where people live a long time, and they think it is their diet and lifestyle. I think the areas are called Blue zones.

Yes, there are such areas ... diet and lifestyle account for a lot!
