This is my post for #freewriters 2842 prompt brag about it hosted by @mariannewest
My husband fished yesterday and today. About yesterday's catch, he could not brag about it, he only had 12 pounds. But today he could brag about it with 55 pounds of trout. I have a love hate relationship with him catching fish. I love it when he catches, and hate that I am not catching, too.
Yesterday he said he was fishing an island and there was an osprey sitting in a tree that hung over the water. He heard a splash and the osprey dove and was fighting a fish too big for it to fly with. As my husband watched, the osprey kept flapping its wings trying to fly, that is what my husband thought, but as he watched, it was using its wings to paddle to the island. Once on shore, the osprey dragged the fish up on land. I asked what kind of fish it was, and my husband said he did not want to get close enough to see it because he did not want to scare the osprey after all it went through to get it on shore. He thinks it was a snook.
I am so happy he had a good day today, he even caught plenty of bait, but he said he does not know where to go tomorrow, he fished all his best places today, and he is tired. He does not fish on the new Saturday, which now starts on Friday. It will be Monday before he goes back. Nope, I think Monday is Labor Day, he will not be fishing then either.
He told me the fish house paid 1.50 on 2 to 4 pound jacks, that is a crazy high price for that size. Normally, they are .50 cents a pound or lower. I know I can not catch them and I doubt if my husband can now hold up to catching any amount of them. They are one of the hardest fighting fish in our river.
He always brings his boat home, then transfers his fish to a cooler in the truck. This way, he does not need to tow his boat to the fish house. He will cover them with ice. I wanted to see them in the pictures.
