This is my post for #freewriters 2984 prompt referee in the game of life hosted by @mariannewest
My sister ordered an Alexa for her nine year old granddaughter for Christmas, but when it came, it had a cracked screen. She contacted the company, and they told her to keep it, and they would send her another one. The crack is not that noticeable, and the thing works perfectly. She gave it to me, I had one, but it was an older one that did not have a screen, it only told the time.
This one shows the time and temperature, so every time I woke last night, I was looking at how cold it was. At 5 this morning, it had not gotten lower than 38 degrees. I felt confident that we did not get a freeze. Then daylight came, and when I looked outside, I could see what looked like ice on the windshield of my husband's truck. I knew it could not be ice at 38 degrees. It had to be dew.

Imagine my shock when I went outside at 8:45 and saw it was ice. I do not know where Alexa gets its temperatures from because by then it said it was 40 degrees. It is set to my address. I asked several people if they had ice this morning, and every one of them said no. We must live in the coldest part of our town. I am so glad I busted tail covering and putting away the plants.

I wanted to get the plants that are outside uncovered this morning, but my youngest was talking to one of her sisters on the phone, and she told me her sister wanted to talk to me. She tells me that I need to take her sister to the hospital right now. I asked why, and she said she could hear her wheezing over the phone. I asked if she was having trouble breathing, and she said yes, she was. She has asthma and COPD, so I immediately took her to the hospital.
She also has MS, and I think the lesions in her brain has her where she does not comprehend things, and I always feel as if I am a referee in the game of life with her. They wanted to keep her overnight, but she refused.
Right now, she is arguing with me about a prescription the doctor wants her to take. It is for prednisone. She had told the doctor that the last time it was prescribed, she would not take it because the pills were triangle shaped, the doctor told her that different companies make the same pills but use different shapes and colors. Just now, she came out here and told me she will not take it because it is not the same as what she has taken before.
I have argued with her about several things the doctor wants her to do, and some she does not need to do, like making an appointment so she can get a referral to a neurologist. I already made that appointment, but she keeps telling me I have to make another one. I am at my wits end with this girl.
