This was my giant pothos after the freeze

I had an appointment with my pain management doctor today. I have been trying to cut back on the pain pills. I want to get off of them, but the pain is too bad when I do all of the things I need to do, like having to move plants into sheds to keep them out of the cold, and going fishing. She told me I am 69 years old and it is time for me to stop doing these things. She said I am doing more damage by taking the pills because they are what allows me to do the things that need to be done. I agree with her, but if I do not care for my plants, no one else will.

I told her how my back hurts at night, and the only way I can get any rest and fall asleep is to bring my knees up to my chest, like in the fetal position. That was not a great position because when I woke, I could not straighten my right leg. I tried to walk and would yell out with each step. She held my knee and had me bend and straighten it. She said she could feel grinding in it and thinks the cartilage is going in it like it did my hand. She wanted me to get an x-ray and take steroid shots in it. I told her no, they did not help my hand, so I will live with it just like I live with the pain in my hand. She did not like that and said, as my doctor, she might cut me back on the pills to keep me from doing these things.

When I came home, I told my husband this, and he said, she wants me to do nothing but my cardiologist tells me it is best to stay active, which doctor do I listen to?

Yesterday I took plants out of my husband's shed because they needed sunlight and water. I knew today I had to put them back in it and cover the plants again because we will be in the mid 30s in the morning. I am afraid we will get another freeze where we live. When I was covering the pineapples that are in the ground, I tripped and fell. When I hit the ground, I caught myself with my bad hand, now I have terrible pain in it, and my back is hurting almost as much as my hand hurts. I know I am overdoing things, but this cold weather can't last much longer, can it? Then I can go back to pulling weeds, and me and the plants will be happy, and maybe then I can get off of the pain pills.

Slow down for the winter as much as you can ... remember, the entire Northern Hemisphere has slowed down ... because while you can replace plants, once your body is gone, it is GONE. Your cardiologist wants you to move around for your heart's sake, but your other doctor is looking at the fact that some of your joints are giving way. They need rest to heal. I hate that you are losing plants ... but remember Jonah and his gourd vine. Don't lose sight of the fact that YOU are more important than any plant.

OK -- solutions to help those joints that are natural: get bone broth, which has natural gelatin, which will help you rebuild your joints. If you can get a good magnesium source to take with it, that will help. Also, at night, put the strongest, tingliest rub you can stand on your affected joints because that will pick up blood flow and healing.
