my cap

My sister's cap, it says, I am the first mate and I always let him think he's right. I guess the people who made it did not know that women can be the captain, too.
I do not agree with either cap. When on a boat, the captain is the one who makes the decisions, but the captain can also be wrong in the decision making and should at least listen to the first mate, you never know, they can have a better plan that you did not think of, or a place to fish that you forgot that in the past was a good spot. They can see fish that the captain missed seeing. It is always a good thing to have good communication between the two.
Some people think they are the captain, but they are not a real captain. They buy a boat, and know nothing about how to operate one, like knowing they should raise the engine when in shallow water. They should NEVER let people sit right on the bow with their feet hanging over the edge. If they hit something, that person will go overboard and under the boat where the prop hits them. I hate to see parents letting kids do that. A good captain or anyone with any amount of sense would never allow this. When encountering other boat wakes, like those from big yachts, don't go head on into them, ride them at an angle, and you will not pound your boat, jarring everyone's brains out, and it is easier on your boat's hull. Don't have tunnel vision, watch what is going on around you, watch for crab trap buoys, I could go on and on, but you get the drift.....
We had a scare with our bank account today. Our SS checks went in on the third, and we have not paid bills yet. My husband was looking at our account online and saw that a little over a thousand dollars was taken out yesterday. The Tax Collector's office took it out. He asked if I paid our property tax, and I said yes, I did back in October. He went to the bank, and they said he had to go to the Tax Collector's office. The tax collector's office told him they could not find any problem, and he would need to dispute it with the bank. They gave him a paper that showed the name of the person who sent an E-check with our account numbers. Luckily, we knew the people who made the payment on their property taxes.
I texted this person and showed them the receipt the tax collector gave us, which had their payment with our bank account numbers. We would have been screwed if we did not know them.
After talking to Beth, we decided the best way to handle it was leave the payment as is, and tomorrow she will bring us a check so we can deposit the money back into our account. The last four numbers on our accounts each start with a 6 and end with a 7, but the others are not even close to being right.
Tuesday, I will take the papers back to the tax collector's office and tell them to be more careful with other people's money. My husband will go to the bank and tell them not to dispute it. What a mess.
