Hah wow no idea they would deny entry for old campers that is wild.
I stayed in a camper like that while in alabama visiting a friend of mine. Was happy to stay in there, that night my tent collapsed from snow. And the night before my buddies tent got flooded by a flash flood.
Yes, it might only be a Florida thing, they do not want anything old or ugly being seen by the tourists.
I know you were visiting, but that does not seem like a good time to be camping, a tent collapsing from snow, and then a flash flood. Good that your friend had the camper for you to stay in.

The weather was really bad during that visit. But I think it helped to bring us closer too.
