A unique tour along President Avenue, Havana [eng/spa]

Havana has the privilege of having several avenues that stand out for their architectural design and the attractions that make them up. Undoubtedly, one of my favorites is the President Avenue, also known by locals as G Street. This avenue, located in the Vedado district, starts at the Carlos III Avenue and ends at the populous Havana Malecon.
I have to walk it very often because it is a quick access road to my workplace, but despite the daily traffic, I do not fail to observe it with the curious eyes of a first-time visitor.
The name of this avenue is closely related to the fact that in it coexist several sculptures of presidents and prominent personalities in the region of America. Therefore, in this post I am going to show you some of these, since it is a quite extensive street that deserves a second look.

La Habana tiene el privilegio de contar con varias avenidas que destacan por su diseño arquitectónico y por los atractivos que la integran. Sin dudas, entre mis preferidas está la Avenida de los Presidentes, también conocida por los capitalinos como calle G. Esta avenida, ubicada en el reparto Vedado, comienza subiendo Carlos III, y finaliza en el populoso Malecón habanero.
Yo tengo que recorrerla con mucha frecuencia porque es una vía de acceso rápida a mi centro de trabajo, pero a pesar del tránsito cotidiano, no dejo de observarla con los ojos curiosos de quien la visita por primera vez.
El nombre de esta avenida guarda estrecha relación con el hecho de que en ella coexisten varias esculturas de presidentes y personalidades destacadas en la región de América. Por ello, en este post les voy a mostrar algunas de estas, ya que es un calle bastante extensa que merece una segunda mirada.

I also tell you that all along the avenue you can find buildings with fascinating architecture, excellent gastronomic establishments and places of tourist interest such as the Museum of Dance. It is also common to see some graffiti on the doors of parking areas.
The first of the monuments that stands out is the one dedicated to Salvador Allende, who was a doctor and president of Chile. It has a small plaque on the back that says that the sculpture was dedicated to the people of Cuba in the year 2020. The monument was created by a Chilean artist, but curiously, this donation was made by the Spanish province of Badajoz, Extremadura.

Les comento además que a lo largo de toda la avenida se pueden encontrar edificaciones con una arquitectura fascinante, excelentes establecimientos de servicios gastronómicos y lugares de interés turístico como el Museo de la Danza. También es frecuente ver en las puertas de zona de parqueos algunos grafitis.
El primero de los monumentos que destaca es el dedicado a Salvador Allende, quien fuera médico y presidente de Chile. Este posee una pequeña tarja en su zona trasera que refiere que el conjunto escultórico fue dedicado al pueblo de Cuba en el año 2020. El monumento fue una creación de una artista chilena, pero curiosamente, está donación fue realizada por la provincia española de Badajoz, Extremadura.

The President Avenue also has the added bonus of having abundant vegetation, which at this time of the year is in incredible colors.
Further on, you can find the monument dedicated to Omar Torrijos, who was president of Panama.
This set exhibits a phrase of support of Torrijos, dedicated to the Cuban people at the meeting of the UN Security Council in Panama, more than 50 years ago. It also has a very interesting structure, made up of separate rocks that represent the Panama Canal.

La Avenida de los Presidentes también tiene el plus de poseer una vegetación abundante, que en esta época del año luce colores increíbles.
Más adelante, se puede encontrar el monumento dedicado a Omar Torrijos, quien fuera presidente de Panamá.
Este conjunto exhibe una frase de apoyo de Torrijos, dedicada al pueblo cubano en la reunión del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU en Panamá, hace más de 50 años. Además posee una estructura bastante interesante, constituida por rocas separadas que representan el canal de Panamá.

The avenue is full of benches to sit and enjoy the pleasant breeze that can always be felt there. In addition, at this time of the year it is very common to see children playing in this area, since the summer is over and schools are out of session until September.
Finally, in this tour of the day, I share with you some photos of the monument dedicated to President Benito Juarez, also known as the Benemérito de las Américas.
Juarez was a much loved Mexican president, not only by his people, but by all the good people of the continent. Likewise, it is reflected in the base of the set, that the same was a donation for the avenue granted by a group of Mexican senators in one of the legislatures of the Congress of the Union.

La avenida está colmada de bancos para sentarse a disfrutar de la agradable brisa que siempre se puede sentir allí. Además, en esta etapa del año es muy frecuente ver a los niños jugando en esa área, ya que transcurre el verano y las escuelas recesan su funcionamiento hasta el mes de septiembre.
Por último, en este recorrido del día, les comparto algunas fotos del monumento dedicado al presidente Benito Juarez, también conocido como el Benemérito de las Américas.
Juarez fue un muy querido presidente mexicano, no solo por su pueblo, sino por todas las personas de bien del continente. Igualmente, queda recogido en la base del conjunto, que el mismo fue una donación para la avenida otorgada por un grupo de senadores mexicanos en una de las legislaturas del Congreso de la Unión.

Undoubtedly, this is an avenue that every lover of travel and new places should admire when passing through the city of Havana.

Sin dudas, esta es una avenida que cada amante de los viajes y de los nuevos lugares, no debe dejar de admirar a su paso por la ciudad de La Habana.
