Hello friends and Hivians. Well it's come time I dedicate a complete post to fishing. It's happened for 5 weeks in a row I think, maybe more and always on Saturday. Very lucky to have this little streak going as everything as fell into place including the weather surprising 😁
I've spent time at basically three different areas. They all have produced fish but one particular place I just seem to visit the most. Not a surprise it's the place I do the best at. The pictures above are in the order of my success rate.
I have wanted to check out some other places which offer opportunities to catch other species of fish. To this point this year I have just been targeting what is called pan fish here. I almost decided to do some river fishing this weekend. I really want to catch some bigger fish like catfish, walleye, drum, sturgeon and even carp.
I havent done river fishing yet simply because of incident that happened a few weeks ago. Three younger girls drowned in it and they weren't all found until just recently. Maybe this coming weekend I make the journey to the river.
Like I said already Panfishing is all I have done so far this year. How's the freezer holding up? It's full of fish and I have been practicing catch and release a lot recently. Also have been supplying others with some. It's another good year for big blue gills and nice size crappies.
This particular outing was one of the last cold days I fished. Cold hands in the morning time and more comfortable weather towards the middle of the day. Well just go later right? Nope the fishing is quite a bit better in the morning despite it being a few degrees above freezing at this time. There was no hint of wind so that made it much better to endure.
This particular day I arrived a little late to my spot. I didn't arrive until about 9:30 and I knew I missed out on a little crappie run. I only caught one smaller crappie which I let go to fight another day. The blue gill fishing was excellent for a few hours. Than it died out but I did manage to catch some smaller ones like the one in the last picture.
Usually when I'm fishing and I have a good catch rate going on I draw unwanted visitors. First it was a few kids who decided to fish in my space. It happens quite frequently and they mean no harm. They ask a lot of questions but I don't mind filling thier minds with hope. Afterall thier the future of fishing.
What was annoying were these individuals on this boat. Everytime when I was on roll catching fish they would come to the area. I just thought they have the whole damn pond to try why invade the waters I'm fishing? They got some what closer than what is shown in the picture and the thought of casting and catching a boat did cross my mind.
Not long after the boat came to the area for the last time some geese were swimming in the area. This is when I decided to call it a day. I remebered to take a photo of the fish I kept for the day.
Here we are my last time out. I was amazed when I arrived as the entire surface of the water contained a mist of fog above it. I really wish I would have taken a picture when I was driving through but the thought of catching some fish in the fog seemed like a much better idea. The picture doesn't show it all that well but you can still see some of it in the distance.
It was just chilly enough to wear a jacket first thing but later on it was t-shirt weather. Perhaps even short weather later in the day would have been sporty. I don't bring a wardrobe so that didn't happen 🤣 The jacket came off shortly after taking a shadow picture of me fishing. I didn't get a fog monster in the few minutes the fog was present but did catch one rather tiny fish. It was a hard to catch today but I ended up catching some nice specimens of the types I caught.
Well I caught the largiest fish of the day after taking the jacket off. Maybe the jacket wasn't lucky, haha. I was hoping to get on a crappie run but it didn't happen. I did catch one more but it was too small so it went back in the water.
Oh turtle story time. This little guy was present for quite some time. I paid attention to him and followed his activity. I missed catching a fish or two because of presence. Later on I seen a huge turtle surface. I would say it was close to 15 lbs. I went to grab my phone, of course a fish was biting, than I almost lost my pole in water and the turtle went down. So no fish no big turtle picture but plenty of frustration, haha.
Well the fishing has been had, time to harvest and enjoy. The top two photos are not my photos but those of friends. Hey I live in the Unted States and I can't remember the last time I ate fish the typical American way (battered and fried). It will come because I have been craving for some catfish. If you haven't tried fish asian style your defintely missing out. So much more flavorable in my opinion.
Well that's all I have for you this time. Take care, stay safe and enjoy the rest if the week. Until next time!
