La desaparición de los 46 estudiantes de Ayotzinapa: un crimen de Estado.

Watching this documentary is heartbreaking. Many things affect my life, touching the compassionate fiber of my being; but this never-ending story stands out as one of the most shocking due to everything it encompasses: corruption, drug trafficking, cynicism, cover-ups, and parents who never tire of waiting for answers💔. The disappearance of the 46 students from Ayotzinapa: a crime of the State.

I have seen several documentaries about this massacre; the times I have had to tell it, I feel like something inside me breaks, becomes saddened, for EVERYTHING that happened to those students and that, 11 years later, there are still no culprits found, no evidence, NO ONE TO SPEAK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT! To recount the misfortunes of the students in this post would be pages and pages about what occurred before, during, and what continues to happen surrounding that case. We are talking about the context of these young people, some normalistas (students from a technical training school in Mexico), who, like all student movements, fight for their benefits and well-being while studying. They decide to take some buses to go to the capital and are ambushed, with 43 of them disappearing, and to this day, no one knows where they are, and those who do know do not speak.
I think this is what makes me angriest. Those young people could have turned to drug trafficking, to massacres, to instilling fear, or become farmers like their parents, most of whom are uneducated. However, they chose to change their story, their destiny, and the narrative of always being poor and ignorant. They wanted to study, learn, be men of science, while remaining engaged in social struggles that not only benefit them, but also help their community. I was a student at a school that the authorities 'trembled' at when we stood up; despite the reprisals, our rights were always respected and it never went beyond a few hours of detention. From there to disappearance, to being wiped out, to killing with impunity, was something unthinkable. So that young person could have been me, could have been anyone who, in the flush of youth, could have been in that situation and disappeared from the face of the earth, without any authority providing answers.
These young people deserve justice, those who remained, those who were taken, those who died in the ambush and massacre that was done to them, for their relatives, for all those who have died without a voice or without being identified, for a before and after in that story, they deserve justice.

Corruption, lies, deceit, the way to disguise reality, is another thing that is openly exposed in this documentary, as the leadership that held power in Mexico covered up (and continues to do so) the police, the military, and the cartels, creating a story and narrative almost so perfect and repeated so many times that they thought they could close the case and move on with the same impunity that surrounds other massacres that occurred; as if there were no mourners. However, 43 bodies of students cannot be concealed or disappeared so lightly, and to think that no one will reflect beyond that or offer alternatives, besides the irrefutable evidence, which did not match the story made by the authorities, The contradictions are so evident that someone must provide a better answer to what happened that night and why.
I believe that our countries are not poor because of purchasing power; we are poor in minds, in spirit, and too short on memory to continue trusting our future to people without heart, without soul, only focused on power. The documentary shows how the authorities were the first to cover up, manipulate, and use their force to hide all the crimes that occurred that night as a use of force, covering up for the cartels, in addition to their connection, the planting of evidence, the coercion they used to obtain false statements, and that to this day, there is no clear answer to all that surrounds this criminal act; in other words, if there are any culprits, they are the authorities, who, it is worth noting, currently enjoy total impunity.

The documentary also shows us the faces of the mothers, fathers, and family members who are still searching for their relatives today. They are people who have left their fields, their lives, but also their ignorance and have learned to take refuge in unity, in hope, in the search for their children, since 'A mother never tires of waiting', and they deserve an ending, a truth, calm for their hearts. The role of international experts, journalists, and people who have truly helped to understand what happened on that September 26th are key pieces that have not tired of investigating and seeking answers as a professional and personal challenge, since they have felt those young people as their own.The pain is the same, and I believe it is felt by all, in different ways, but it is a void that will not be filled until they have their 43 back.

Finally, the HBO documentary shows us updated details of the progress that has been made in the investigation. Well, I don't recognize them as progress because the government has everything stalled, but at least material has been declassified, experts are still working, and leads continue to be followed to clarify the case. For example, I didn’t know about the existence of a fifth bus, nor the investigations that existed in the United States regarding the production, transportation, and distribution of heroin in Chicago, from the city of Iguala, Guerrero. I also didn't know about the bus with the soccer players or even the woman who was in a taxi and also got caught in the ambush. I think a fictional movie wouldn't have been as perfect as that phrase that says: "when it's meant for you, no matter how much you try to avoid it, and when it's not, no matter how much you try to embrace it."
