I'm just trying to do the little things to help the environment, like taking my fabric bag to the grocery store instead of using the flimsy plastic ones that rip open as soon as you pick them up. Yesterday I walked an extra block so I wouldn't have to breathe in the exhaust from the matatus. But it's pointless half the time.
I look at the news online and it’s full of the same crap, Ukraine’s dragged into the fourth year and they keep trading the same small pieces of ground back and forth with drones. Iran’s going off again but won't talk too much about it because I don't want to turn this into a sad blog and everybody's hoping this does not blow up bigger than it already is.
This news is getting more terrible.
Sudan has been in a state of food insecurity for three years with no farming because of the shelling. South Sudan is in an awful situation and is one mistake away from getting drastically worse. I didn't even know this until I looked at the other news section. People are suffering all over the world.
The impact of war is greater than anything myself and a few people can offset by using reusable cups. I'm adding up all the wrappers as if that'll balances out this devastation.
There's a little tear in my bag from where I ripped it on a boda boda mirror last month by mistake, and yesterday I was looking at that tear and how fragile this entire effort appears for me. I can't change the world, the people causing the most problems have the most power to do that and those who wish for change or a better world have the least power and all the can do is hope and pray to their god's that the worst does not happen.
I really hope that in 2026, we end the war. People are dying because a few powerful people refuse to use agreements and deals, they'd rather use war, but the question is to what end.
