RE: Bad Habits | Good Music

Man, your posts have been hitting me hard lately. I'm good about almost never waking up late, but I still use the snooze on some mornings. Jocko would NOT approve!

The other four...those are a constant challenge. You can be good one day and slip up the next. Your mind has to be constantly disciplined to avoid those bad patterns of thinking (and acting).

The last 5 years or so, after reading "Hell Yeah or No" by Derek Sivers, I've learned to say "No" a lot more and it has improved my life and mental health in so many ways.

Haha, yeah Jocko would crush you for hitting that snooze button. It would not be a crushing anyone would be likely to enjoy coming from the big man.

With the others (and many other things) it's a guide to focus on and I don't believe anyone would be able to hit it one hundred percent of the time. But if it's a conscious action, striving to do the things that we know work, a person will hit it more often than not.

Quite true about Jocko. Although something interesting I've noticed...I've been fortunate to meet a couple of SEALS in person when in San Deigo. They were the surprisingly humble and "gentle" when we were chatting (just random encouters in public). Perhaps Jocko might cut me a break as a civilian 😁

Good point about using them as a guide. We never achieve perfection but can use those as a north star to aim towards.

Some military people want to tell you all about it, about them, and others just do what they do and don't need to talk all about it. I think the same with SF guys really. Some are meat heads and will act it, but most are very intelligent people and humble as you say. I guess it's like with all humans, there are all kinds.
