Hello, Weekend Engagement Community. Sorry my entry is coming quite somehow late but since I am not altogether late, I will love to lend my voice to the discussion of this week.
Why do people like showing up and bragging to others.
It is in our nature to be proud. We just want others to recognize that we are this or that. So in my view, I think that it is inherent in our nature to like showing off. We think that we have what makes us better than others. So we go about making a whole lot of noise without considering that the others will actually be better than us in some other ways. Even, sometimes what we are bragging about, there could be others who have the version that is better than what we have. It is all foolishness to do things for others to see but we just love doing that.
The singular factor that makes people to feel that they have something worth telling others or bragging about is pride. It is pride that makes people to show off. There could not be a better way to explain this than pride. Maybe others have another viewpoint but what I know myself is that pride causes bragging and showing off.
But then, it could be foolishness trying to do all that. One does not need to brag about whatever you have or can do. You don't need people to praise you or to clap for you. Whatever you can do or whatever you have thank God for it and use that privilege wisely. Maybe some of us do not know: some people have been sent to early grave because of their pride. Please, let us apply wisdom in the way we conduct our life.
