Idiots? Of course, many are found. When I work at the bakery I have to deal with at least one each workday.
Some come with bad jokes and if you don't laugh, for them you are rude. Once I had to tell a guy that his joke was very bad and that it didn't make me laugh. Damn! Some believe that because you are in the sales area you will do any nonsense for people to buy or that you must always be smiling, which is not the case.
Fortunately, where I work, they make a bread that most customers like and I don't have to be convincing anyone to buy them, I just have to serve with politeness and respect, and that's it, whoever really wants and can buy will do so.
Today a guy asked me about the price of bread, and I told him what was already written on the sign, 320 Bs. (yes, yes, our currency is very devalued). He replied that they should sell it for 300 Bs. to sell more, he said it in a mocking tone and laughed, and I replied that the price was what I had told him. He was probably hoping I would agree with him. The most ironic thing is that he had a wad of bills and kept insisting that the price should be what he said (What do people think to want to run other people's businesses??). I remained firm and calm. He told me he would pay me the full price so I wouldn't cry. I reply that if he wants to take the bread, he will have to pay for it in full, otherwise I simply won't sell it to him.
The sale is finalized with a sarcastic smile from him and he tells me I have a bad mood and that he was only trying to make me laugh. I just answered that there are good jokes and not so good jokes. Finally, he left with the bread. Surely, he is one of those who always wants to pay less than the fixed prices. Personally, I have no problem accepting less than the cost if the person beforehand explains the situation to me with humility and education, I can even give away bread sometimes (which I have to pay out of my pocket). But idiots like that can go look for discounts somewhere else.
Another guy I attended at the bakery was drinking beer from a bottle, while buying he placed the bottle on the counter, then on the floor. He bought and was leaving, leaving the empty bottle at the door. In a small oversight he left, but he only took a few steps, I called him and asked him to please remove his bottle from the bakery door, he told me it didn't cost me anything to leave it there, I asked him again a second time to take it away and he did it reluctantly. Really, I don't understand idiots like that.
Once, they had just placed hot bread on the counter and I have to gradually place them in trays inside the display cases, many times in that process I have to attend to the people arriving. There were several people asking and the hot bread in front of them and in front of me too. A man, grabbed with his big hands one of the breads to check if they were hot, a total abuser. I told him he should take that bread that he had already touched and squeezed, he told me no, that he wanted another type of bread but only provoked him because they were hot. He burned himself, the little idiot, well deserved, and he also threw the bread roughly, he took another type of bread and didn't even apologize.
Ufff, I can tell many stories of idiots who come to the bakery, but none will beat Frank, a man over 60 who says that a woman over 30 is very old for him, that he looks at very young girls on the street with desire, that he approaches them saying "baby" in a lewd and "flirtatious" way.
Although Frank, very rarely, manages to make an unknown girl laugh, he approaches them frequently. If he manages to make the girl laugh, he assumes she wants to sleep with him, and if she doesn't, he calls her hateful and pretentious. Who does that idiot think he is?
