Endless ignorance

"The disease of the ignorant is to ignore their own ignorance.."

-Amos Bronson Alcott-

How did the Earth come to be populated by so many species?

No, don't try to explain it... Nobody knows. There may be many hypotheses, theories, beliefs... But I don't know, nobody knows.

And so many ethnicities within our own species—don't try to tell me it's the climate, migrations, mutations... I don't know, you don't know...

Life on Earth is a mystery, the existence of Earth is a mystery... Don't tell me it's the Big Bang theory, don't tell me it's the Bible... No, and no... I don't know, you don't know.

The earth was not only populated by people and millions of species of flora and fauna, which I know nothing about, but little by little the human race created different agreements for coexistence, such as language and beliefs... So many languages, so many dialects, and I only know my own, Spanish. I have very basic notions of English... I am ignorant; without the help of technology, I wouldn't be able to communicate in any other language with a human being who speaks to me, for example, in Chinese or Bulgarian.

For every detail I know about a particular topic, there are many more details I don't know. For example, I might know some articles of my country's labor law, but the rest are like I'm reading them for the first time.

I couldn't calculate the 10th root of a decimal number without a calculator, nor the process for solving a nuclear physics problem, and probably not even something simpler related to those topics.

I don't know human anatomy in true detail, nor all the processes the body carries out to stay alive... I know almost nothing, and for every topic that comes to mind, there are millions of things I don't know...

I don't know how to perform technical or fundamental analysis of a cryptocurrency... I don't know how to use even half the functions of the cryptocurrency exchange I use; I only go to the basics, to what I need, and that's it. I don't know anything else. I really know almost nothing about it.

I'm so ignorant that I'm unaware of all the topics I'm ignorant about. What I do know is that everything I don't know is infinite... 🥴

If I try to ignore how ignorant I am, I'll be closing the door to new ideas and opportunities for growth. Do you agree?

This writing is inspired by @galenkp's proposal for this weekend.

I took these photos of a painting by the artist Rafael Betances.

What a pleasant surprise =) Thank you so much for your support 💚

There is so much we don’t know, or perhaps we each know a little bit of everything, which is why we are all one. What matters is knowing the essentials of life, what really matters – why we are here in this life. It’s always a pleasure to read your posts!

And it is always a pleasure for me that you visit me =)

... And... Why are we here?

The evolution of consciousness? The experience of human existence? 👀

It’s simple: we come here to learn and develop our souls; that is our mission. Some also come to teach.

Your reflection on the vast ocean of knowledge and ignorance is deeply moving. Recognising our own limitations in understanding the world is an act of humility and wisdom. Life, with all its mysteries, invites us to explore and learn, to accept that there is much more beyond what we can comprehend.

The fact that you are aware of your own ignorance is, in itself, a significant step towards personal growth. Curiosity and openness to new ideas are essential for human development. By accepting what we do not know, we open the door to a world of possibilities and learning.

It is true that the diversity of cultures, languages and knowledge is astonishing, and each of us contributes a unique piece to the jigsaw puzzle of existence. Your willingness to explore and not to close the door on the unknown reflects a valuable mindset in our society.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts; it is a reminder that learning is a never-ending journey and that, in the search for answers, we find unexpected connections and opportunities.

Thank you for your kind words.
