What’s good folks, ya boy is back at it, staring at a screen while the snow piles up outside. Classic Canadian winter vibes eh? But honestly the cold ain’t botherin me as much as what’s happenin inside the box. We gotta talk about this AI situation. Not the "will it kill us" Terminator stuff, but the real existential dread creeping in.
We been around for thousands of years right, thinking we’re the top dog. Them apex predators with the big ol brains. But what makes us human? Art, creativity, the ability to write a poem or paint a sunset.... For our entire existence we staked our whole identity on being the creative ones while the animals just ate and slept.
Then boom. I fire up a local LLM on the server or mess around with Midjourney and suddenly this thing is spitting out art better than 90% of the people I know. It writes code faster than I can think, it answers questions with more patience than I ever had. So where does that leave us? It’s forcing us to look in the mirror and ask a tough question — do we actually know what it means to be human?
Cause if a bucket of math and Python scripts can replicate our soul in five seconds, maybe our soul ain’t as deep as we thought. Or maybe we’ve just been coasting on autopilot so long we forgot how to actually drive. I see it in the grind squad sometimes, people churning out content that feels robotic even without AI. Maybe the robots ain’t the problem. Maybe we turned into bots first.
We optimize everything for the algo, stack engagement metrics, follow the rules. That ain’t human. That’s just bad programming. To me the only thing separating us now is the mess, the flaws. AI’s trying to be perfect, trying to predict the next token with max probability. Being human’s about taking the dumb risk, the irrational play, the physical sensation of freezing your hands off shoveling the driveway.
So yeah, AI’s making us answer the question cause it’s stripping away all the fake answers we hid behind. We ain’t special just cause we can write a sentence. We gotta find something else. Maybe it’s just the ability to be wrong and be okay with it. I dunno, just rambling while I watch the GPU fans spin.
Maybe AGI will be able to answer that question 🤣
