When Congee Gets So Wrong

I have been fooling around and trolled people on Hive Pub for months, and I think today I will break that zero post here, by sharing something "good" here. Hopefully it won't annoy Bozz and Dbooster too much

Let me talk about food which of course it will be related to my place, Indonesia. We have plenty of congee or porridge, because we are part of Asia too. From chicken porridge, fish porridge, seafood and many more including vegan porridge too.

But here is the problem. People think that congee or porridge is for our health because it is light, easy to digest and nourishing. So to make it as a everyday healthy food, people try to modify it into a comfort food.

That's great right? Imagine we have a comfort food that is good for our health... Ok, to put this more realistic, not as if my bad imagination, see the picture below which I have taken from Quora.

Ok healthy food right? My ass...

When you put more comforting factor into your food, it means it will be less healthy. The more comforting it is, the further it goes away from being healthy. You will end up giving more spices, more seasoning and more flavor enhancer. And most people here believe it is cheap healthy food, well... the cheaper it gets, same as the comforting one, the further it goes from being healthy too.

Ok I will share you my congee here, I am frequently buy this one in the morning and I have it as my breakfast before going to my office.

For some people, this looks like a mess. Most Indonesian have their dish mix all together in their plate / bowl, so presentation might be horrible for others.

Let me tell you in detail what's wrong with this congee, which most people here still think this is a healthy breakfast.

Starting with the side dish, a skewer. This is chicken gizzard, I like gizzard a lot. Is there other alternative for the skewer? Yes they have some, such as chicken skins, Chicken liver, Chicken intestine, pygostyle, and quail eggs. Well anything named eggs should be good, but the others? to be honest, all of them are cholesterol booster.

The congee has some visible shredded chicken, but that's all. The rest are crackers, fried shallots and cakwe cuts. Cakwe is chinese fried dough stick, in a simple explanation it is a donut in a stick shape then get cuts in smaller piece.

So all of them, excluding the shredded chicken, are fritters. They are full of oil and their main content is flour... or Carbohydrate... Are they nutritious?

And the last part which most Indonesian people like it, the sambal or chili paste. it is the reddish in the center below.

Is it healthy? AI says so. Only doctors and medical practitioners who keep telling people not to eat them during some illness, so fuck them all for outdated not consulting the case with some AI lol...

Overall, I see all the healthy porridge or healthy congee right now has become a thing from the past. You can ask other Indonesian if you do not believe me, what I have shared above is the most common Indonesian Congee found everywhere and most people here still believe it is healthy and good for our healthy.

For me it tastes good so it is good for my belly and my wallet, because It only costs me around 0.72 USD. It can keep me full for a whole day, it is the reason why I prefer to have it over breads and instant noodle. Rice should be better, but I can't have it in the morning because it always give me discomfort and sluggishness for a whole day.
