The Pub Prompt- What is your fav pub food

I stumbled upon this page while exploring the platform this weekend and I found something I could share on. Let me tell you, there is nothing that hits quite like a late-night spread of proper Nigerian night delicacy. If I'm being honest, my absolute "ride or die" combination has to be Suya and Peppered Snail. Its special cos you don’t even find it in the day time, it is specially made at night. The last time I had this elite combo was during the North London Derby, Arsenal vs. Tottenham. You know how those matches go, the tension especially with the bad form that Arsenal is in now and I tried to downplay it like I didn’t really care about the match but I really did once it started. I needed something to ground me, and luckily, the spot I was at delivered the goods. It had been long since I had been their though but nothing had really changed.

The Suya arrived first, wrapped in a nice, thick layer of foil to keep the heat trapped. You can never go wrong with Suya, it’s the go-to banger delicacy here. When I peeled it back, the steam hit my face, carrying that smoky, yaji spice(pepper spice). Its not just unsavory spice(pepper)s, its mixed with other spices to make it real tasty. It was perfectly charred, and piled high with those sharp red onions and crunchy cabbage that somehow make the meat taste even better.

Then of course the Peppered Snail. Believe it or not, that was only my second time ever having it. I was a bit of a skeptic the first time, but this round? Man, it was banging. They were these massive, meaty snails tossed in a fiery, dark red pepper sauce that had just the right amount of kick to make me reach for my drink but not so much that I couldn't taste the earthiness of the snail. Each bite was chewy, spicy, and perfectly seasoned. Between the adrenaline of the match and the heat from that pepper sauce, I was sweating, but in the best way possible.

Arsenal might have been stressing me out on the screen, but that foil-wrapped Suya and those snails were the only real winners that evening and as a bonus Arsenal ended up winning too. Plus Plus!!

The Suya looks good, but I don't think I would be able to do the snails! I've never had them before, but there is a mental block there I think!
