Pude pedir un trago
de whisky junto a la victrola
escuchando a Bob Dylan,
pero prefiero soñar en azul,
al amarillo de girasoles
que perforan mis costillas.
Puedo creer que no escucho
el canto de sirenas,
el hielo sobre el vaso
porque el hielo
suena mucho mejor
sobre las aureolas,
tus pezones
y lo no descrito.
Puedo pedir clemencia
y entonces dejaría de ser yo,
con clavos,
en el estigma de ser,
aunque no beba whisky
o sueñe en el color
entre tus piernas.

I could order a glass of whisky
beside the record player
while listening to Bob Dylan,
but I prefer to dream in blue—
in the yellow of sunflowers
piercing my ribs.
I can pretend I don't hear
the siren song,
or the ice against the glass,
because ice
sounds so much better
against your areolas,
your nipples,
and the things left unsaid.
I could beg for mercy,
but then I would cease to be myself—
nailed fast
to the stigma of existence—
even if I never drank whisky
or dreamed of the color
between your legs.
