Three-leave yam is one of the seasonal tubers in my city that I love so much to the extent i can't allow its season to bypass me. Three-leaved yam is popularly known as Ona or Onu in our locality.
People from other western regions also know it as cluster yam or to some, as bitter yam. Irrespective of what it is known as in your dialect, the most important thing is that i enjoyed it today and i am ready to showcase how i enjoyed it. Nevertheless, incase you're lost because of the name, the scientific name is Dioscorea Dumetorum. Feel free to tell me the name in your dialect.

Today, as I went to market, I purchased some tubers for my personal consumption. Now let me show how I prepared a local vegetable sauce with red oil for it.
- Red oil (obtained from Palm tree)
- dry powdered pepper
- Salt
- 3 tubers of three-leaved yam
Preparation procedure
First and foremost, I removed the skin or outer layer of the yam.

Then, I sliced to my liking. And
after slicing, I placed it aside.

Immediately, I poured 50ml of red oil into a dip plate.

Next, I poured 2 spoonful of grounded dried pepper into it.

I also added salt to taste.

Wow, just as simple as, the food is ready.

It is looking so yummy right? I enjoyed the three leaf yam with the sauce. You too can as well give it a try. You can also add onions if you wish. As for me, I didn't add onions because I don't want people around me to perceive the raw aroma of onions from my mouth. Although, onions could have garnish it's taste the more, yet, I was not in the mood. Therefore, understand me. So feel free to add onion to your own as a veganist you are.
Thanks for reading!!!
I appreciate 🙏
