I've never been to Stonehenge despite it being not too far away from me! I wish I had as I think now you can only see it from a distance, unless you pay a VIP ticket or like this morning they opened it up for summer solstice.

When we went to Stonehenge, there was a car park, a ticket office / shop, and that was all. You could buy a ticket and head for the stones. However, I can understand the restrictions because of the amount of vandalism and erosion the stones have suffered at the hands and feet of visitors in recent times.
